Dr. Kathryn Mainka grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. She attended  Mississippi State University for both her Animal Science and DVM degrees. Dr. Mainka joined Sunshine Animal Hospital in 1998 and later purchased the clinic in 2021. In addition to caring for pets at the clinic, Dr. Mainka is active in the community by volunteering and dedicates some of her off time to Christian County CERT and the DART team.

Dr. Mainka enjoys spending time with her family and pets. She also likes reading, cross-stitching, and spending time appreciating nature.

Dr. Nicole Scott is a Missouri native who has dedicated her career to providing compassionate veterinary care. In 2017, she and her daughter, Samantha, relocated to the Springfield area to be closer to family.

Dr. Scott earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. After spending more than a decade in mixed animal practice, she now focuses on small animal medicine and especially enjoys preventive care and helping pets live healthier lives.

She is committed to continuing education and has been active in the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the Academy of Continuing Education.

Outside of work, Dr. Scott enjoys spending time with family, hiking, camping, and floating. Her home includes one dog and five cats, all of whom are happily governed by a bossy African grey parrot.
